du Deploys World-First Commercial End-to-End U6GHz Connectivity on Live 5G+ Network Using 350 MHz Contiguous Spectrum
DUBAI — Telecommunications operator du, the flagship commercial brand of Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company, has launched what it confirms as the world’s first commercial end to end Upper 6 Gigahertz (U6GHz) connectivity service, delivering live high capacity bandwidth directly to commercially available customer premises equipment (CPE) across its operational 5G Advanced (5G+) network.
The deployment leverages 350 megahertz (MHz) of contiguous spectrum situated within the 6775 to 7125 MHz frequency band. By establishing active connections between the live radio access network and off the shelf consumer and business customer equipment, including high performance wireless routers, du transitions U6GHz from controlled laboratory environments and isolated field trials into a functioning commercial access tier for residential and enterprise subscribers.
The upper mid band allocation provides critical capacity headroom designed to power data intensive workloads, offering ultra high throughput for enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), next generation fixed wireless access (FWA), distributed cloud artificial intelligence processing, immersive augmented reality ecosystems, and real time multi gigabit enterprise collaboration. The massive contiguous bandwidth allows the carrier to absorb accelerating data traffic demands across dense urban centers where existing mid band frequencies face localized capacity saturation.
Saleem Alblooshi, Chief Technology Officer at du, emphasized that the commercial activation unlocks tangible performance gains for consumers and corporate enterprises alike, noting that bridging live network infrastructure with customer premises equipment brings next generation wireless capabilities directly into end user hands. Alblooshi credited the proactive regulatory roadmap implemented by the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) for providing the spectrum policies and licensing frameworks required to pioneer advanced wireless technologies.
The operational milestone forms an architectural stepping stone bridging deployed 5G Advanced infrastructure toward future sixth generation (6G) networks. By commercializing contiguous 350 MHz wideband channels, du reinforces the United Arab Emirates’ national objective to lead global telecommunications modernization, establishing the underlying physical data layer required to sustain national artificial intelligence deployment and high speed digital economy initiatives.
