Saudi Arabia and UN Align on Inclusive Digital Governance and Emerging Tech Deployment
NEW YORK — The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) have held high-level bilateral discussions in New York aimed at expanding international collaboration in digital governance, emerging technologies, and sustainable development.
The meeting was convened between H.E. Eng. Abdullah Alswaha, Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology, and Li Junhua, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs, in the presence of Ambassador Dr. Abdulaziz Alwasil, the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations.
Deliberations centered on leveraging comprehensive digital transformation to accelerate progress toward the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Both parties reviewed strategies to enhance cross-border partnerships in digital government, focusing on deploying public digital infrastructure to modernize administrative processes and improve citizen service delivery.
