Canadian University Dubai Launches Interdisciplinary Design and AI Degree for Fall 2026
DUBAI — Canadian University Dubai (CUD) has introduced a new Bachelor of Science in Design and Artificial Intelligence (BSc DAI), an interdisciplinary undergraduate degree engineered to train designers and computational technologists within a single unified discipline.
Accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) and built upon CUD's Canadian curriculum framework, the program addresses the regional shift toward generative design tools, computational modeling, and automated visualization systems. Rather than treating artificial intelligence as a post-graduate add-on, the degree embeds computational thinking directly into creative studio workflows.
The curriculum blends design studio practice with computer science, mathematics, visualization, interaction design, human-computer interaction (HCI), programming, and AI-enabled design processes. The program prepares graduates to build adaptive, user-responsive systems across spatial, product, and digital service design sectors.
In addition to technical execution, the degree incorporates human-centered and data-informed decision-making alongside coursework in ethics, social impact, cultural considerations, and environmental sustainability. Students will participate in experiential learning via hands-on design studios, internships, and industry-sponsored projects, alongside modules covering entrepreneurship and research.
"As artificial intelligence continues to reshape industries and transform the way we address complex environmental and societal challenges, there is growing demand for professionals who can combine design thinking with advanced computational and AI capabilities," Massimo Imparato, Dean of Canadian University Dubai's School of Architecture and Interior Design, said in a statement. "We have designed the program to equip students with the technical ability, creative vision, and ethical understanding needed to lead the next generation of innovation across the design industry."
Applications for the BSc DAI program are currently open for the inaugural Fall 2026 academic cohort.
