CENTCOM and UAE Partner to Establish Historic First Bilateral AI Task Force 'Talon Synapse'

TAMPA, Fla. — U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has finalized an agreement with the United Arab Emirates to establish the first bilateral military task force dedicated to accelerating the development and deployment of artificial intelligence applications.

Designated as Task Force Talon Synapse, the joint initiative is scheduled to formally launch in Abu Dhabi in the coming weeks. The specialized team will comprise approximately 20 American and Emirati personnel bringing expertise across artificial intelligence, data analytics, and cybersecurity.

"This will be a historic milestone as we work with one of our most capable regional partners to rapidly deliver evolving AI advancements to our warfighters," Adm. Brad Cooper, CENTCOM commander, said in a statement. "Together, we and our Emirati partners share a strong commitment to adopting AI applications that will foster innovation at speed and scale."

The formation follows strategic discussions held last year between Adm. Cooper and UAE National Security Advisor Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan. CENTCOM leadership subsequently engaged with AI tech executives and Emirati defense officials during regional visits last month to finalize operational parameters.

Moving forward, Task Force Talon Synapse will focus primary operations on integrating AI tools for intelligence support, hardening critical infrastructure defenses, and conducting real-time monitoring of the regional security environment.
