Kuwait Advances Digital Transformation & Cyber Infrastructure to Drive Vision 2035 Goals
KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait’s strategic investments in robust digital infrastructure and cybersecurity are accelerating the delivery of government services, significantly reducing reliance on physical branch visits and enhancing national resilience against cyber threats.
Strategic cloud partnerships with global technology providers, including Google Cloud and Microsoft, have fortified Kuwait’s cyber defenses while enabling the secure expansion of digital public services aligned with Kuwait Vision 2035.
Information technology and cybersecurity expert Shrouq Al-Sayegh highlighted that integrated digital architectures have allowed public transactions to be executed online 24/7. Primary drivers include the unified Sahel application and the Hawayti (Kuwait Mobile ID) digital identity platform, which provides secure authentication, electronic signatures, and single-sign-on access across government entities. Al-Sayegh emphasized that inter-agency digital integration has drastically cut paper documentation, accelerated processing times, and secured uninterrupted government operations during emergencies through scalable cloud capabilities.
"Investment in digital infrastructure is no longer optional but a strategic necessity that strengthens the state's flexibility, supports innovation, and advances the transition toward a smart government," Al-Sayegh said.
Echoing these developments, IT and digital security expert Hussein Al-Nakkas noted that modernized data centers, upgraded telecommunications networks, and expanded cloud platforms have become the backbone of Kuwait’s digital economy. Al-Nakkas outlined four key recommendations to maximize the national digital ecosystem:
Platform Unification: Streamline government digital platforms to enhance cross-agency integration and user experience.
Cloud Expansion: Broaden cloud computing adoption to boost operational efficiency and optimize public spending.
Cyber Awareness: Elevate public cybersecurity awareness regarding safe digital practices and threat prevention.
AI Acceleration: Fast-track artificial intelligence integration to deliver proactive, automated government services.
