Oman and Algeria Explore Strategic ICT and Digital Transformation Partnerships in Algiers
ALGIERS — An official delegation from the Sultanate of Oman has arrived in Algeria for a three-day official visit aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation, exchanging technical expertise, and unlocking strategic investment opportunities across information technology, cybersecurity, and digital transformation.
The Omani delegation is led by Dr. Ali bin Amer Al Shidhani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology (MTCIT) for Communications and Information Technology. The high-level delegation includes key representatives from the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), and executives from several leading Omani technology firms.
The official schedule opened with a high-level bilateral meeting in Algiers between the Omani delegation and Meriem Benmouloud, Algeria's Minister and High Commissioner for Digitalization. Both parties evaluated national digital strategies and discussed avenues to align public sector institutions. The Algerian delegation presented several national flagship projects managed by the High Commission for Digitalization, including the National Strategy for Digital Transformation, digital infrastructure initiatives, and the Algerian National Center for Digital Services.
In return, the Omani officials highlighted progress made under their National Digital Economy Program, the Government Digital Transformation Program, and national artificial intelligence initiatives aligned with Oman Vision 2040. Private sector representatives from Oman also showcased commercial technological solutions covering cloud computing, AI platforms, cybersecurity frameworks, e-government, and custom software development.
According to the MTCIT, the cross-border engagement supports Oman’s long-term objectives to boost digital exports, assist national tech companies expanding into regional markets, and foster public-private partnerships across the Middle East and North Africa.
