KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait’s Communication and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) handled 156 reports of cyber fraud, online scams, and suspicious activity during July 2026. The regulatory action forms part of CITRA's ongoing strategy to protect consumers and fortify national cybersecurity resilience against evolving digital threats.

According to statistical data published by the authority, fraudulent activity was conducted across several primary digital and telecommunication vectors:

  • Websites & Links: 54 reports (representing the largest single scam channel).

  • Phone Calls: 52 reports.

  • WhatsApp Messages: 26 reports.

  • Social Media Platforms: 24 reports.

CITRA stressed the critical importance of immediate incident reporting upon encountering suspicious messages, unverified payment links, or unsolicited calls. The authority advised users never to share personal identity details, one-time passwords (OTPs), or banking credentials with unknown entities.

Highlighting digital awareness as the country's primary defense against cyber fraud, CITRA urged citizens and residents to verify the official credentials of any entity requesting sensitive financial or personal data updates.
