Omani Innovator Aya Al Kindi Ranks Among Top 13 at 67th LIYSF with AI FinTech Solution

MUSCAT — An artificial intelligence solution developed by Omani innovator Aya bint Hamed Al Kindi has been selected among the top 13 projects globally to be featured at the 67th London International Young Scientists Forum (LIYSF).

The Sultanate of Oman is participating in this year's forum—taking place in London from July 19 to August 1—under the umbrella of the Research and Innovation Authority (RIA). Oman submitted 10 scientific projects chosen from a competitive regional pool of 738 entries across science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. Al Kindi's creation was the sole Omani entry to achieve a spot in the forum's top global selections.

Titled "Guardian" (also referred to as Haris), the project leverages advanced artificial intelligence algorithms to combat financial crimes, specifically targeting money laundering. The system analyzes complex financial datasets with high precision, detects anomalous transaction patterns, and predicts potential risks at accelerated speeds compared to legacy monitoring platforms.

"The selection of Guardian among the world's best projects demonstrates the ability of Omani innovators to develop advanced technological solutions with global relevance in critical fields such as financial security and financial technology," Aya bint Hamed Al Kindi said in a statement. She added that the international recognition reflects the growing capability of young Omani researchers to address intricate global challenges through science and technology.

The achievement aligns with the broader goals of Oman Vision 2040, which seeks to build a knowledge-based economy by expanding youth contributions in research, artificial intelligence, environmental sustainability, and emerging technologies. The 67th LIYSF brings together exceptional young researchers and innovators from across the globe, serving as a premier international showcase for STEM research.
