MANAMA — Digital telecommunications and infrastructure enabler stc Bahrain has partnered with the National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) Group to execute the infrastructure modernisation of its enterprise data centre facilities, completing the second phase of the banking conglomerate’s digital transformation roadmap.
The deployment establishes an upgraded, high availability hardware and software fabric within NBB Group’s newly inaugurated data centre environment. A primary operational objective of the project was facilitating the seamless architectural consolidation of Bahrain Islamic Bank (BisB) workloads and core services onto NBB Group’s centralized strategic infrastructure platform, consolidating compute, storage, and networking layers under a single operational environment.
The modernized topology provides workload mobility, horizontal scalability, and low latency compute performance, designed to safeguard transaction integrity and ensure uninterrupted continuity across critical retail and commercial banking channels. The unified architecture reinforces institutional cybersecurity defenses, establishes redundant multi site disaster recovery pathways, and supports high availability application delivery for growing consumer and business transaction volumes.
Throughout the multi stakeholder implementation lifecycle, stc Bahrain functioned as the primary project coordinator and technical deployment partner, steering end to end project governance, aligning third party enterprise vendors, and executing technical integration across live banking platforms.
Hesham Mustafa, Chief Business and Wholesale Officer at stc Bahrain, stated that the partnership demonstrates the operator’s capacity to architect and orchestrate enterprise grade mission critical IT environments. Mustafa affirmed that deploying a resilient data centre foundation supports NBB Group’s operational evolution while advancing nationwide digitalization objectives outlined in Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.
Razi Amin, Group Chief Technology Officer at NBB, stated that successfully finalizing the second transformation phase and integrating BisB services onto the central group platform marks a defining operational milestone, establishing an agile foundation capable of accelerating fintech innovation, regulatory compliance, and scalable service delivery across the Kingdom.
