Türkiye Surpasses 100 Million Broadband Connections in Q2 2026 as Fiber Base Doubles Over Five-Year Buildout

ANKARA — The total number of broadband internet subscriptions across Türkiye officially crossed the one hundred million milestone for the first time during the second quarter of 2026, according to official telecom market telemetry published by the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK).

Data from the regulator’s quarterly report indicates that national broadband access points, spanning combined cellular data and fixed wired architectures, scaled to 100.8 million subscriptions by the close of the second quarter. The achievement marks an overall expansion of 11.3 million subscribers over the past five years, reflecting sustained state backed capital investment into digital infrastructure and expanding household device adoption.

The total subscriber landscape remains anchored by high density mobile connectivity, which accounts for 79.7 million cellular broadband lines. In parallel, the fixed line broadband subscriber base expanded to 21.2 million connections. Historical tracking confirms a persistent upward trajectory from 89.5 million lines recorded in the second quarter of 2022, rising sequentially through 93.1 million in 2023, 95.5 million in 2024, and 97.4 million in 2025 before breaching the nine figure threshold this year.

High speed fiber optic networks served as the definitive growth engine across the national telecommunications landscape. Subscriptions to fiber to the home (FTTH) and fiber to the building (FTTB) connections surged from 5.2 million in the second quarter of 2022 to 10.7 million in the second quarter of 2026, officially exceeding the ten million benchmark for the first time. The domestic fiber footprint expanded by more than 5.4 million lines across the five year window, more than doubling nationwide adoption and establishing a modern high throughput foundation for enterprise cloud workloads, digital government services, and domestic gigabit connectivity.
