Mobile Telecom Subscriptions in Oman Reach 8.3 Million as M2M IoT Services Surge

MUSCAT — Total mobile telecommunications subscriptions in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 1.3% year-on-year to reach 8,324,406 by the end of June 2026, according to official data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The statistics demonstrate a shifting subscriber dynamic across mobile segments:

• Postpaid Mobile Subscriptions: Grew by 6.2% to 1,313,837 connections.

• Prepaid Mobile Subscriptions: Declined by 2.1% to 5,305,401 connections.

• Machine-to-Machine (M2M) / IoT Services: Rose sharply by 9.3%, climbing to 1,705,168 active connections.

In internet services, active mobile broadband subscriptions reached 5,534,086 (a 0.3% increase), while total active fixed broadband connections expanded by 0.5% to 591,630.

Within fixed broadband, Fiber-to-the-Home/Building (FTTH/B) connections grew 7.4% to 364,487 subscriptions. Conversely, legacy and wireless fixed technologies saw contractions, with Fixed 5G declining 2.5% to 210,125 lines, ADSL falling 20.9% to 8,933 lines, and Fixed 4G dropping 73% to 5,666 lines. Satellite broadband recorded the highest relative expansion rate among fixed technologies, surging 134.3% to 1,696 connections.

International internet bandwidth serving the Sultanate expanded by 31.8% over the same period, reaching 5.382 million Mbps.
