TDRA Convenes MENA’s First 6G Summit in the AI Era in Abu Dhabi to Shape Next-Gen Wireless Standards and Cognitive Networks

UAE

ABU DHABI — The United Arab Emirates will convene the inaugural edition of the 6G Summit in the AI Era in Abu Dhabi on Monday, October 19, 2026, establishing the first specialized multilateral assembly in the Middle East and North Africa dedicated to charting the technical, structural, and regulatory roadmaps for sixth generation telecommunications.

Organized by the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), the two day international summit brings together senior delegations from international regulatory agencies, global telecommunications vendors, network operators, and academic research institutions. Hosted at Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers, the convention provides an institutional platform to align regional spectrum priorities, technical architectures, and policy frameworks ahead of upcoming global standards freeze cycles.

The high level gathering convenes at a critical inflection point as international standardization bodies and industrial consortia intensify efforts to define 6G technical specifications. The transition builds directly upon the UAE’s early commercial deployment of 5G Standalone and 5G Advanced (5G+) networks, establishing a tested physical infrastructure baseline capable of supporting sub terahertz transmissions, distributed computing, and extreme data density.

Central to the summit’s agenda is the structural integration of artificial intelligence across future radio access and core networks. Technical deliberations will examine how native cognitive architectures transform network planning and automated traffic orchestration, moving telecom infrastructure from human calibrated systems toward autonomous, self optimizing fabrics. Key tracks will address sub terahertz spectrum allocation, non terrestrial network integration, semantic communications, environmental sustainability, and the regulatory frameworks required to ensure secure, resilient next generation connectivity across the region.
