UAE Deploys Sovereign AI Defenses via ‘Cyber Factory’ as Daily Cyberattacks Reach 800,000
ABU DHABI — The UAE Cyber Security Council (CSC), in strategic partnership with national cybersecurity firm CPX Holding, is scaling sovereign artificial intelligence defense architectures through the "UAE Cyber Factory" to counter a surge in AI-assisted attacks targeting critical aviation, energy, and financial infrastructure.
National telemetry data reveals that cyber incursions have climbed to approximately 800,000 daily attempts—a fourfold increase compared to pre-escalation baselines. The attacks originate from more than 40 organizations across 20 countries, utilizing automated AI tools to identify software vulnerabilities, craft tailored phishing payloads, and generate polymorphic malware at unprecedented speeds.
According to cybersecurity threat intelligence firms operating across the region, including Check Point Software Technologies, Palo Alto Networks, and Trellix, the attack surface has fundamentally shifted toward machine-speed operations. Vulnerabilities that previously required several days to operationalize into functional exploits are now weaponized within hours.
Chronology of Recent AI-Driven Threat Waves:
February 2026: National systems thwarted automated ransomware and breach attempts targeting public platforms. Concurrently, adversarial actors targeted IP-connected camera networks across the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain to gather intelligence.
July 2026: Defense teams contained complex, AI-generated spear-phishing campaigns and code injection attempts targeting major financial institutions without operational disruption.
August 2026: National security operations intercepted multi-vector attack paths aimed at core aviation networks, utility grids, and educational portals before lateral movement could occur.
To counter automated adversary pipelines, the UAE launched the Cyber Factory initiative. Operating out of the centralized National Operations Center, the program combines shift-based human analyst triaging with locally developed, autonomous AI engines designed for real-time anomaly detection, predictive risk mitigation, and machine-to-machine response execution.

He emphasized that the initiative establishes end-to-end national cyber sovereignty, enabling the state to build tailored, adaptive AI defenses rather than relying entirely on third-party commercial architectures.
